What does ‘Being Independent’ means?

We often come to the word ‘independent’. People use to say they are independent or they want to be independent. What does that exactly mean? Does that mean there is no interference with anyone in their life? Or does it means they don’t care about anything except their own self? Or is it being totally negligent of useless things that really don’t have any space in their life? For that, we really need to know what ‘being independent’ means.

What does ‘Being Independent’ means?

‘Being Independent’ means learning to support yourself other than being reliant on others. If you want to be independent and want to take your own decisions, firstly you have to be strong and trust yourself. Independency does not mean that you have to run away from your responsibilities. It also does not mean that you should be negligent to anyone. It basically means keeping everything in mind you also have to be your own. You have to stop losing yourself for others’ wishes and wants. You can take decisions for yourself. When you conquer all your fears and attain the inner strength then you are in a way to become ‘An Independent Person’. People aren’t going to be available every time, that’s why you should learn to handle things on your own.

Why you should be more independent

Independent is the best thing you can ever be. It is a vital skill for people who want to take more control of their lives and feel like they don’t want anyone to accomplish your goals. When you start taking your life into your own hands, you feel relieved and joy at the same time. Everyone who came on earth has some goals to achieve before the end of life. Some live for others, while some love to be independent and follow their dreams.  You have a very limited time, so don’t waste it for those who really do not matter to you. Those who screwed you up and you are totally fed up with them, just move ahead and say them ‘Good Bye’. This would be the better start of your new life.

Personal independence boosts your confidence. You don’t have to wait for anyone’s permission and support every time. You will be more likely to try out new things that you want to do, rather than doing what others expect. It will also build up your knowledge. You will be more appreciated by the people and they will be willing to volunteer you when you need them.

Emotional independence reduces stress and disappointment. It will help you to take decisions for challenging situations, where you unnecessarily drag other people to help you. Financial independence gives you the best feeling when you are able to pay your bills on your own. You can spend money on your favorites without any hesitation or reliance on others.

While concluding I can say that independence can help increase your self- esteem and self- value.
